What AA Does Not Do
AA is concerned solely with the personal recovery and continued sobriety of individual alcoholics who turn to the Fellowship for help. Alcoholics Anonymous does not engage in the field of alcoholism research, medical or psychiatric treatment, education, or propaganda in any form, although members may participate in such activities as individuals.
As a result, AA does not provide medical or psychiatric care, dispense medicine or psychiatric advice, provide nursing or drying-out services, offer religious services, counseling, or provide housing , money, food, clothing, jobs, or other welfare or social services. Nor does AA provide letter of reference to parole boards, lawyers, judges, court officials, social service agencies, or employers, or anyone else.
